Day-12 New Orleans -on- bike

The weather for today looked better than Monday, so I decided to visit the WWII museum tomorrow.
And .. what a gorgeous morning for a bike ride.   First, breakfast at a cafe about 5-blocks away.

locally-caught crab meat omelet, organic yellow grits, and a fresh-made biscuit.     yummmy
No map in hand, just a general sense of how the city's laid out, let's go explore .. headed south,
and I spilled out onto the French Market :

Not a shopper, I continued on .. to the French Quarter

boy-  this was going to be fun  ..  here I am (and my trusty bike) in front of a bike shop :

wearing the hockey tournament shirt from Jon & Salli and my trip to .. Okinawa.

Many, many, many  interesting buildings as you probably already know .. here's a few :

continued to explore .. and I came to .. Jackson Square .. WOW !    St.Louis Cathedral :

Here's how it looks from the Mississippi River walk :

Need a horse-drawn carriage ride ?     Jessie said it looked like a Disney castle.    What a day so far!
More Jackson Square  (General Andrew Jackson, War of 1812), looks like a scene from Paris, right?

oh yeah, I should throw in some historical signs :

these signs are all over the French Quarter at street intersections ,,

On my way south to scope out where the WWII Museum was,  I took a few pic's of 'old & new'  -

I then headed over to the Mississippi River walk area.     Many interesting sights :

It was really getting warm and humid by this time, 87-deg. 'feels like 92'.    Time to head back
through the French Quarter and go north.     One more ... shot :

Locked the bike in my room and walked a couple of blocks to 'seed' for a healthy lunch.   Ordered some quesadillas with beans and veggies and one of their special juices .. which had carrots, beets,
granny smith apples, lemon, and ginger.    Here's a pic   ..   yummmmy

Now for a shower and some rest before heading over to Frenchmen Street and the 'dba' to listen to the Palmetto Bug Stompers!     Ate some crawfish etouffee for dinner, then walked over to the 'dba' :

fun, fun, fun day ..  historical French Quarter, tourists loving it, vibrant music scene.
Tomorrow, probably the whole day inside at the museum, we'll see :

today's mileage :  approx. 12         biking and walking and enjoying the views and the weather!
