Day-16 back to Tampa .. NHL Lightning vs Red Wings

Fun day at Scott & Sue's.    Lovely house, great guest room, wonderful hosts!   AND .. a fun little girl
to play with, Peanut.   She's smaller than Java, but just as skittish and nervous.   But cuuuute!

Here's a pic of their house :

I told Sue about my idea of a dinosaur kit for Cameron and I to play with at Captiva and that I had
seen something that might work at Home Depot in the Halloween section, she looked up on-line and
found some better kits at Joann's.    We drove there and bought a couple of different ones.  This will
be a surprise for Cameron, I'll show you pic's and a description of what we do in storytelling.

Afterwards, since they knew I had a long drive to Tampa and that I'd probably not get a full meal
before the game, they treated me to lunch at PINCHERS, "from the water to the table".
An interesting seafood restaurant.   Our young server was from the Netherlands.   We had a lot of fun
with him.    I ordered the blackened gulf grouper sandwich and some rice & beans.   Yummmy!

Sue (my younger sister) shared a family treasure with me.   Our mom had put together a small scrapbook of dad's exploits as a professional boxer when he was a young man.   He came down from Canada to box in Lewiston, Maine.   That's where he met mom.   This was in 1947-49, before he joined the US Army.    I'll bring the scrapbook to Captiva for you to see.    Here's a page :

His fight name was .. Phil Rodrique .. these newspaper clippings had several iterations of the name..

A short nap before starting this long night.   Sue loaded me up with cold water bottles and peanuts.
It's about 134+miles one way.   I bought a parking pass on-line.   Sue printed some maps for me.
Here's a few 'outside' pic's before I went into the arena.   Very close to downtown Tampa.

It's a very beautiful arena.   Once inside, what captures your attention is the monster video screen.
Here's a few pic's :

They do quite a production.   They honor people who have made a difference in their community all
game long during stoppages of play.    Very neat.   The Lightning won the game, 3-1.
Then the long commute back to Ft. Myers/Alva.     Got to Scott & Sue's about 12:45am.

Tomorrow, pick-up .. Ruth Ann & David at the airport, stop at a grocery store and head to Captiva!

today's mileage :  269
accumulated trip mileage :  4121
