Day-17 On to CAPTIVA !
Recovering from a 260-mile drive to go see a hockey game was tough this morning. Took a refreshing shower, started packing for the next phase of travel. Need to re-organize the Rav4 to allow for
David & Ruth Ann's luggage and groceries. Had a good visit with Scott's brother and his wife and
mother-in-law, who just arrived after using Scott & Sue's unit at Captiva.
Drove out to RSW to pick up David & Ruth Ann. They had a long day, early morning flight from Spokane -through- Denver -to- Ft. Myers. We then drove to a grocery store, Publix, and bought groceries for a week.
Jeanette and Matt and kids had a 4-hour drive from Orlando. They also stopped for groceries.
We pulled in to the South Seas Island Resort and after finishing at the registration desk we drove up to our unit. We had to hustle to move in all the luggage and groceries before heading to the beach for the 7 o'clock sunset. So now we have (4) of the (5) sets of people here. I pick up Jessie & Marty tomorrow at the airport. We were able to get on the beach to enjoy the first of several sunsets.
Barb & Barry -our SUPER HOSTS ... Barry in blue and Barb hiding behind him!
and we had a Blue Heron that joined us to enjoy the sunset over the Gulf of Mexico :
This is what it's all about! Spending time with family and creating memories. Bike riding, shell collecting, grandkid playing, fun meals together, sunset appreciation time, card playing, kayak touring, maybe sailboat riding, and many more fun activities. I'll try to chronicle these in the days ahead.

Joe and all,
ReplyDeleteBeen catching up this am on your blog. Glad to see all went well. Know you will be picking up Marty and Jess today.
I, too, also bought some things for the kids, big and little, to do. Barbara was kind enough to carry them over there. Needless to say the books are for the littles and you all can figure out the others.
Charlotte
