Day-3 Ft. Collins Colorado EAGLES Hockey !

Whoa, sleeping in after two long driving days .. feels soooo good!   Colorado air is nice and fresh
this morning.    Before I leave the historical lesson plan, I want to encourage you, before you
head out on your next long drive, to pick up some resource materials so you can follow

I'll definitely be picking one up for Texas, since I'll be travelling smaller roads to San Antonio!

I met Marty for lunch at the .. Back Porch Cafe,   biscuits & gravy  -  yummmmmy!
We talked about his new promotion/re-assignment and projects he's working on,  our busy 2019
potential travel plans,  growing up in Decatur,  his parents potentially coming out next week, etc.

The Colorado EAGLES hockey team won the ECHL league championship TWO years in a row!
This is the 3nd consecutive banner raising I've attended with Marty and Jessie.   The other was
the Univ. of Denver Pioneers NCAA championship.    I'm so lucky!

The Eagles have moved up to the top league, the American Hockey League (AHL), which is one
step under the big one, the National Hockey League (NHL).   Each of the AHL teams have an
'affiliation' with a big club, for the Eagles it's the Colorado Avalanche (Denver).

Hockey team names are interesting :   Portland Winterhawks, Everett Silvertips, Colorado Eagles,
Bakersfield Condors, Charlotte Checkers, Chicago Wolves, Cleveland Monsters,
Grand Rapids Griffins, Hartford Wolf Pack, Hershey Bears, Iowa Wild, Laval Rocket,
Lehigh Valley Phantoms, Manitoba Moose, Milwaukee Admirals, Ontario Reign, Rockford Icehogs,
San Diego Gulls, San Jose Barracuda, Stockton Heat, Syracuse Crunch, Tuscon Roadrunners.

Marty and Jessie came home from work.   Marty was the sous chef, chopping and dicing mushrooms
and garlic.   Jessie made garlic mashed potatoes and Asian-style meat balls.  Afterwards we headed
over to Loveland for the hockey game.     Here we are getting ready :

Place was packed!   Opening game, ceremonies, new jerseys, blue and white light sticks for

everyone.    After one period, 0-0.    After second period, Wolves 2-1.    Eagles tie it up late

in the third period, 2-2.   Overtime - three skaters on three, Wolves win 3-2.   Fun game!

I'm so lucky!  I've seen hockey games recently with all three of my kids,  with Jeanette and
grand kids in Everett, watching Jon play hockey in Okinawa, and now with Jessie and Marty
in Ft.Collins!      The family that cheers hockey together .. cheers life together.

Speaking of grand kids, Jeanette shared Cameron's kindergarten's weekly 'newspaper',
from .. "Room 9, we shine!"    see how cute this is :

Bianca includes Cameron in her entries, also.

Can retirement get any better?  Thanks for following my adventures.
